5 Best Phones-February, 2015
While we don’t recommend buying a new phone in the month of February, we realize that plenty of people aren’t going to be able to wait a few weeks for new crop of flagships to arrive. With those people in mind, here, we take a look at the devices we think represent the five best phones on the market right now.
If you’re looking for a new smartphone right now, you’d be wise to wait until March 1st. That’s when the Samsung Galaxy S6 and HTC One M9 are both expected to launch, proving you with two new flagship options and replacements for two of the best smartphones from last year. Three weeks is nothing in the smartphone world so if you can wait, wait
Not everyone can wait though. We realize that everyone’s situation is a little different and some of you won’t be able to hold out for these new flagships. You need a smartphone during the month of February and perhaps, you need a new phone this very moment. We haven’t seen anything major released at the start of the year but there are still some excellent phones out right now.
We are constantly bombarded with questions about the best phones money can buy. There are a number of different devices that we could recommend, the smartphone market is full of solid choices, but we want to narrow things down a bit and take a look at what we consider to be the top five phones available right now.
These devices represent the devices that we’d recommend to friends and family. And while our list may differ from yours, these are the devices that 9jaextra editors have selected for recognition this month. We feel like the devices listed here deliver the best, all-around package for this month and this month alone.
With that in mind, here are the five best phones for February, 2015.
- Samsung Galaxy Note 4
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will soon be joined by the Galaxy S6. The Galaxy S6 is reportedly heading to all five major U.S. carriers and that makes the Galaxy Note 4 a tough sell in February. That said, if you’re in desperate need of a new smartphone, the Galaxy Note 4 is going to be a fine choice this month. We like it more than the Samsung Galaxy S5, the company’s other flagship phone.
Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 arrived in the United States to great fanfare and it’s as good as advertised. It offers you a massive 5.7-inch Quad HD display, an improved design that combines plastic with metal, a camera with Optical Image Stabilization, and a speedy processor that’s capable of providing excellent multitasking and gaming.
It’s expensive in the U.S., $299.99 on-contract most places, but it’s certainly worth a look if you absolutely need to buy a new smartphone this month
ii. Iphone 6 Plus
The iPhone 6 Plus is a much larger version of the iPhone 6. Like the iPhone 6, we think the iPhone 6 Plus is one of the best phones that you can buy right now.
Apple’s new iPhone 6 Plus is the company’s massive 5.5-inch iPhone and a direct challenger to devices like the LG G3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Like the iPhone 6, it comes loaded with hardware features though it comes with some notable differences including 1080p resolution and Optical Image Stabilization with the camera.
The iPhone 6 Plus is a little more expensive, it starts at $299.99, but it’s arguably the best large screen smartphone on the market. The Galaxy Note 4 is its closest competitor. Some might argue that Google’s Nexus 6 is up there as well.
For many of you, especially those already in Apple’s ecoysystem, it’s going to be worth the price of admission. Check it out before buying a phone in the month of February.
iii. Iphone 6
In the fall, Apple replaced the iPhone 5s with the iPhone 6. Unsurprisingly iPhone 6 is considered, by many, to be one of the best smartphones on the planet and it’s a device that smartphone shoppers should look at before settling on a device in the second month of the year.
The iPhone 6 comes with an assortment of top notch features including a 4.7-inch Retina HD display, a speedy A8 processor, a fantastic rear camera, a metal design, Touch ID fingerprint technology, tons of storage space, and the company’s brand new iOS 8 operating system.
The iPhone 6 isn’t cheap, it starts at $199.99, but those that buy the new iPhone will be getting one of the best phones on the market and one that should last three years or more thanks to new iOS software updates. Apple tends to keep iPhones updated for three years before cutting off support. Take a look at it before buying your next phone. Trust us.
iv. LG G3
LG G4 rumors are starting to swirl but until we get a firm date, the LG G3 will reign as one of the best Android smartphones on the market and one of the best smartphones that money can buy.
Last year, LG’s G3 took over for the LG G2. Since then, it has reigned as one of the best all-around Android devices on the market. From its large Quad HD display to its speedy processor to its camera and battery life, this is one of the best smartphones out right now.
Best of all, the LG G3 is now extremely cheap as retailers and carriers try and make it attractive next to the latest and greatest Android devices. The LG G3 might not have the biggest name but it’s a big time device and it’s worthy of your attention. Please research it before buying your next phone.
v. Moto X
Motorola’s Moto X from 2014 delivers a powerful Android package and in our expert opinion, it’s one of the best devices you can buy this month. Runners-up were the Sony Xperia Z3 and Droid Turbo.
The company’s current flagship offers a brand new design, a beautiful display, tons of of horsepower, a good camera, and extremely useful software. The device is essentially a Nexus smartphone with some excellent Motorola software features attached. Motorola’s software experience is just one of the features that makes this phone special though.
