Apple Rolls Out iOS 9.2.1 With Bug And Security Fixes, But Nothing For The Battery Indicator Issue Yet,Apple has pushed out iOS 9.2.1 bringing with it a slew of bug and security fixes. However, Apple said it is still working on a fix for the battery percentage indicator issue.

Apple has just rolled out iOS 9.2.1, bringing with a lot of minor security updates and bug fixes. The company, however, has not provided a fix for the battery indicator issue yet.

Most notably, the update brought in a patch for a problem that could halt the completion of app installation when using a Mobile Device Management (MDM) server.

Prior to the release of the final public version of iOS 9.2.1, Apple pushed out two developer betas.

Users can access iOS 9.2.1 via the “Software Update” option in the Settings app of iPhones and iPads running on iOS 9. These include all the iPhone 4s and newer iPHones, iPad mini and iPad 2 and newer iPads, the iPad Pro, and the fifth- and sixth-generation iPod Touches.

Unfortunately, there is no fix for the battery percentage indicator issue yet. Apple said that it is still working on the solution, and users are stuck with not knowing how much battery is left on their iPhones running on iOS 9.

Apple recently admitted that a time-zone bug causes the battery indicator to freeze up in the iPhone 6s. The company has provided a solution to this particular problem. It suggested users to restart the device and head to Settings > General > Date & Time to turn on the “Set Automatically” option.

iOS 9.2.1 is the first bug fix update after the iOS 9.2 was rolled out to the public. Overall, this is the third update given to iOS 9.

In the meantime, while iOS 9.2.1 has just been rolled out to the public, Apple is already focusing its attention on iOS 9.3, a bigger platform update compared with iOS 9.2.1 (which, as its name suggests, only adds minor bug fixes and security updates). In fact, Apple already released the beta version of iOS 9.3.

iOS 9.3 includes a handful of handy new functionalities. For one, iOS 9.3 will offer Night Shift mode, which will make reading during night-time easier on the eyes. Moreover, the updated version will also feature the ability to lock items on the’ Notes app with Touch ID. Reportedly, Apple is also adding multi-user support on iPads, which is beneficial for classroom environments and will be included in iOS 9.3.
